ViVi June 2013 Scans

Sharing some of my favourite scans from ViVi June 2013 issue featuring Namie Amuro on the the cover. This month's issue is all about WHITE summer clothes and how to mix white pieces with a pop of colour! I actually have quite a lot of white clothes for the summer. I don't think I'll be getting any more. I'm more interested in investing in some pop colours like bright pink, neon yellow and pastel green and mint for the summer.

Review: My Favourite Brands from YesStyle

As promised, I'd do another review on YesStyle featuring some of my favourite brands to buy clothes from. I actually haven't bought any clothes from YesStyle in quite a long time. I think my last order was back in December. It's been about 5 months now. That's quite long! I'm planning to go back to checking out some of their stuff in June so that I can shop for some new summer clothes. I already have some pieces and particular style of clothes in mind that I want to get. I don't think I'll be buying a lot this summer though since I still have so much clothes that I bought from the site last year that I haven't worn yet. I think I'll get at most 5-6 items.

Through its collection of romantic women's wear and accessories, CatWorld indulges every woman's desire to look youthful, girly and cute. Based in Taiwan and founded in 1994 , CatWorld is one of YesStyle's best-selling brands. Already enjoying great success in China, the brand now looks to Japan to expand its retail market.

CatWorld is one of my favourite brands to shop for clothes when I want something that's youthful, girly and cute looking. They sell anything from simple casual tees to girly and cute lace/floral tops and dresses. They also have really great colourful and fun basic pieces as well. The price is not bad either, ranging from $20-40 for an item.

Created by founder Mayuki Zhou in Taipei,Tokyo Fashion encompasses all the different Japanese styles that make international headlines. Devoted fans adore the brand for its vast selection of feminine styles and luscious materials, including kawaii tops, classy blouses, and romantic dresses. The fashion savvy collection offers something for every taste and mood, with each piece effortlessly hinting at your inner sweetness.

Tokyo Fashion is also one of my absolute favourites! They have a wide selection of clothes that is geared towards the feminine sweet style. Lace blouses, chiffon tops and sweet romantic dresses. It's a great brand to shop for office wear clothes too with a bit more of colour as oppose to the black and white professional office wear. I'd highly recommend it to those who are looking for some classy blouses and tops to wear for work while remaining to look cute and girly. I also like their dresses that is suitable to wear for weekend shopping or a date out. The price is in the average rang from $20-40 for an item.

Established in 2008, up-and-coming Taiwanese label YUMI is no mere follower of passing trends. The brand integrates facets of each season's trends into casual wear designs, forming a collection of separates for young women that are wearable but still fashionable. Always putting comfort first, YUMI uses quality fabrics with interesting textures for its pieces ranging from the classic tee to the boyfriend cardigan. YUMI proves that simple and casual minimalist designs can go a long way.

YUMI is geared towards the more laid back casual girly style with simple tees, knit cardigans paired with denim bottoms. It's more of the laid back boyfriend look that's in between the mix of sophisticated fun and casual cute look. It's great to shop for the clothes for the weekend where you want something that's stylish yet laid back and simple. The price is also in the average range from $20-40 for an item.

The fast-fashion brand 59 Seconds appeals to the sweet, carefree young woman with its colorful clothes and vivacious designs. Their affordable apparel mixes unique designs with popular styles to favor versatile mixing and matching. The bubbly coordinates focus on streamlined cuts that are perfect for happening Fridays and laidback Sundays. 59 Seconds is the youthful sister brand to business casual edition 59th Street. A YesStyle Exclusives brand, 59 Seconds features a unique selection handpicked by YesStyle's in-house Merchandising Team.

59 Seconds also one of my top favourite brands. I love the playful and youthful style of clothes that they have. It's also one of the brand that have the lowest prices as well. I remember I bought some tops and skirts for as low as $10 and under on sale! I think this brand would be very much suitable for girls who are still a student and just want something that's playful and youthful looking that is not too expensive and affordable. This is definitely the brand for you! =)

Created by OB Design Company in 2004, Orangebear delivers fun casual womenswear. The popular Taiwanese label offers feminine and playful separates to create a unique mix-and-match style and carry larger sizes for curvy women. Orangebear's sister brands eStyle, DokiBoki, IMODA, MioLife, Shikara and OB JEANS were launched to provide a wider range of refreshing designs to young women.

OrangeBear similar to 59 Seconds is another brand that has more casual cute and playful clothes that is more for younger women. Another very suitable brand that I'd highly recommend for high school or girls in college.

Japanese brand Liz Lisa celebrates femininity to the extreme and is a cult favorite among the trendy patrons of Tokyo's famed Shibuya 109 shopping mall. Established in 1999, the label is popular among the followers of the "gal" or"gyaru" trend for its seamless fusion of retro and trendy, showcased through ultra-feminine looks featuring floral prints, lace, ruffles and ribbons. The label's signature A-line silhouette as well as the use of layering and peplum hems make it one of the most sought-after brands identified with the distinctive "gyaru" look. YesStyle is an authorized distributor of Liz Lisa.

Liz Lisa is an extremely popular brand for the "gyaru" fashion style in Japan. If you are into Japanese gyaru fashion then this brand would be familiar to you. I just recently found out that YesStyle added this brand to their site. Personally I think Liz Lisa is a little over girly for me with too much floral and lace. I personally wouldn't want to be dressed in this particular style of fashion on a daily basis but I wouldn't mind it once in awhile. I also think their prices for clothes is a bit over priced and I wouldn't want to pay so much for clothes. But I'd say their clothing style is definitely very unique and cute!

Taiwanese brand SPICY HOLIC fuses eye-catching fashion and subtle sensuality with its collection of apparel that caters to a lady's inner vixen. Combining the words "spicy" and "-holic" to project an image of sophisticated self-indulgence, the brand emphasizes the feminine silhouette with form-fitting cuts and high hemlines. Established in 2000, SPICY HOLIC continues to be inspired by international trends, especially from the UK and the US.

SPICYHOLIC is also another one of my top favourites. The fashion style is more American and westernized if you're not too into the super Asian sweet and girly cute style. It's more "street casual" with a bit more of the sexy girl look. The clothing style is somewhat similar to Forever 21 and H&M. My only complaint would be sometimes the price can be a little too high.

Other clothing brands from the site that I'd recommend to check out are:

ZOO
Kiwi Shop
Wonderland
Clair Fashion
Maymaylu Dreams

I hope this post was somewhat helpful to you if you're new to YesStyle and not sure what brands are good to shop at or where to actually start looking. I think the site has a pretty wide range of clothing style and brands to choose from that there is bound to be one that is suitable for you and matches your personal style and taste. It just takes some time and effort to look and discover which brands are for you. =)

Versatile Blogger Award

This is a rather long delayed post as I've been so busy with work for the past 2 weeks that I actually haven't had time to check and read other blogs and comment. I didn't know someone nominated me for this award until just a few days ago. Thank you Dolly (Sincerely, Dolly) for nominating me for this award! You're one of the blogs that I always check and it means so much to me that you follow me back as well. THANK YOU!

I've only had this blog for less than a year (it will be my one year anniversary in August) and I thank everyone who has been reading and following my blog. I never thought I'd have so many people reading my blog and it really means a lot to me. I just noticed that I also gained a few new followers too. Thank you new followers who are following me! I try my very best to write about as many different topics as possible for my readers who come to read my blog so they don't get bored of reading about the same things all the time. At one point of time before I created this blog, I actually lost interest in blogging and I'm so glad that this blog gave me new inspiration and motivation to blog again! I think having a personal blog is a great way to document your life and it's just good to have something to look back to when you're older in the future. I hope I can keep up with this blogging routine for as long as I can! =)

7 Things About Me:

1. I love drinking honeydew bubble tea and eating the fruit.
This is where my blog name comes from. I have been using this name for the longest time that I can remember. I wanted a username and blog name that would represent who I am and what I love the most and because honeydew is actually really sweet, I added the word "sweet" in front it and it becomes "sweet honeydew" I just added the "-" in the middle to separate the two words in my blog address. lol.

2. Depsite my average tall height (I'm 5'4") I actually have really small hands and feet.
I always get comments from people whenever they look at my hands and they scream in shock saying how SMALL my hands are. I have the hand size of an 8 year old child and to make things worse, I have the shortest fingers ever...especially my pinky! People always get sooooo surprised whenever they look at my pinky and they're like "omg it's sooooo tiny" LOL. I also have small feet too. I'm a size 5 and it is almost impossible for me to find shoes here where I live that actually fits me. *sigh* =(

3. I have an older brother who is 4 years older than me.

4. I'm a very shy person in real life but once you get to know me and I feel comfortable being around you, I can actually get pretty crazy! XD

5. My body size doesn't seem to change much and I've been the same clothing size I was 10 years ago. This is probably one of the best things about me because I can still wear and fit into clothes that I bought from years ago. lol.

6. I absolutely HATE the heat in the summer and I don't like the sun much either.
I always need to walk/be in the shade where there is no sun so I don't get a tan or blemishes/dark spots on my face. I use sun tan lotion like crazy in the summer to cover up and protect from UVs. I also don't like going to hot places for vacation either. So places like Thailand or Hawaii, I'd never go there for vacation! lol.

7. I am very Japan obsessed and love everything from Japan. (If you haven't already noticed from my blog, lol) I just love everything about the country, people and the culture. I listen to Japanese music, watch Japanese dramas and anime, LOVE Japanese fashion, skincare, makeup and hair, very into jpop idols and I love eating Japanese food and snacks. I'm just very crazy about Japanese things and Japan! I have always had a strong interest in Japan ever since I was 12 and it has always been my dream to go to Japan. I'm finally making this dream come true and going to Japan for the first time in my life next year. I'm super excited and I can't wait to go! =D

New iPhone Cases and Mint Bag

Just a quick update of some things I bought online recently because I've been crazy busy with work doing overtime almost this entire week. I barely have any time to do anything at all after I get home. *sigh* =(

And I'll be so busy with work this long weekend too. I actually have to work next Monday (which I'm supposed to be off because it's a holiday) but apparently our client that we work for told their employees that we're open! Like WTF. The client and employees are from the U.S. so it's not a holiday for them. So we actually have to open the office and my manager isn't so happy about that either because he also has to come in to work to supervise us, lol. But at least I'll be getting holiday pay and I'll be off work at 4:30 so I'd still get half of the day off to do some stuff.

Two cute new iPhone cases that I got from eBay recently. I've been iPhone case obsessed again. I want to get more colourful iPhone cases for the summer to match outfits with! XD

Also got this quilted studded charm-detailed mint shoulder bag from YesStyle while I was restocking on some makeup and beauty supplies. A super cute bag to wear for the summer. I love the colour and design of it! It's also big enough to carry everything that I need too. I've been obsessed with mint and anything in mint colour lately. I'm currently trying to buy more clothes in mint colour...just can't get enough of it!

Polkadots Bow Headband Outfit

Went out again for dinner with some friends last night. I really need to stop eating out so much. I've been eating out for the past 3 weeks now and yet I'm going to have dinner with friends again this Wednesday. I swear after my birthday celebration that is coming up soon, I'm going to ban myself from eating out for a month, lol.

Outfit I wore to my dinner last night. I curled my hair with my new conair youcurl iron for the first time and quite happy with the results. It creates much more 3D dimensional bouncy curls that my other iron can't do. My curls lasted me all day long too! It's no wonder this curling iron won the #1 best selling styling device in Canada. It simply works like MAGIC and makes curling my hair ever so easy! And it only took me 20 minutes to curl and style my hair versus how it takes me 30 minutes with my other curling iron. Saves so much time and so much more convenient! =D

Wearing the gold rings that I got from Aldo Accessories back in March! Love these rings soooo much.

We went to eat dessert at dessert kitchen (糖潮) I ordered a summer mango festival with mango ice cream. SOOOO YUMMY! I want to go back to eat more dessert. Ah, I can eat dessert all day! ♥

Went into Forever 21 to window shop while I was waiting for a friend to pick me up with her car at the mall. Ended up getting this cute mint top with laces. Such a cute top! I don't have anything in this colour or style so it was like instant buy to add to my wardrobe and also because it was the last small on the rack so I had to get it before it gets sold out! XD

Cherry Blossoms At High Park

Went out to High Park this past Sunday to see cherry blossoms and take photos with my Sony NEX camera. Took a few quite satisfying photos, so proud of myself! Can't wait to take more pictures with my new camera!

Japanese Restaurant: Okonomi House

I've been going out to eat quite a lot recently which means I will probably need to work harder on my jogging and workout routine. Met up with a friend who I haven't seen in almost a year for dinner at Okonomi House. Had a fun time catching up and talking with her! =)

Okonomi House is located on 23 Charles Street near Yonge and Bloor. The restaurant is actually quite small with only about 5-6 tables. It's a nice atmosphere for some chit chat time with a small group of friends but nothing too fancy.

We ordered a chicken okomomiyaki. I actually found this dish a bit disappointing as it wasn't really what I expected it to be. Also I think the pancake was a bit too sticky and greasy and I was actually expecting it to be more soft and crunchy.

We also ordered a yakiniku bento and shared it since it was just only the two of us eating. The bento was okay other than the beef was cooked rather a bit dry. It was my first time eating at the restaurant and overall I'd say the food is okay, nothing special that really stood out to me. But I'd say the price is not bad! We each paid about $14.50 and we were quite full afterwards. I just don't think I'd want to go back to visit for a second time though.

Outfit: Sakura Theme With Cat Ear Headband

It's been awhile since I last posted an outfit post. I think my last one was back in March? That seems sooooo long ago! I'm back with my first spring outfit post for the year where I'm wearing this "sakura theme" with a white sweater and pink polkadots tulle skirt that I got from Forever21. The pink and white colour combination reminded me of sakuras/cherry blossoms. I also wore the pearl cat ear headband that I got from eBay that matches with my cat iPhone case. I recently dyed my hair back to dark brown for my new job to fit in the "professional look" but I'm having a hard time getting adjusted to it. I miss my light coloured hair so much! I just feel like as if I'm a complete different person with darker hair...feeling so not like myself. Can't wait until I can dye my hair back to a lighter colour again.

I  saw a pretty cherry tree that has fully bloomed while I was out jogging in my neighbourhood after work yesterday and took a pic of it. I'm going to see cherry blossoms this weekend and next week at High Park and I'm so excited. We've had such a long winter this year that it feels nice to be able to see green grass and flowers growing again!
