Food & Drink Adventures in Japan

Just a short post with a compilation of some food and drinks I have tried and eaten during my trip in Japan. I definitely have tried and eaten more food than this but most likely forgot to take a picture of them before I started eating the food, lol. I really miss the food in Japan, especially all the cheap and yummy combini food that you can buy from the convenience stores. Everyday I'd visit the convenience store or grocery store to look for new things to try!

Onigiri! I bought almost one everyday at 711. They are cheap and yummy and make a great breakfast! So many different flavours to choose from too but my favourite is the plum onigiri.

These sandwiches with fillings inside that I found at the 711 are also really good. I tried this pumpkin cream flavour for Halloween.

I always see this famous milk tea in Japanese dramas and I made it a goal to try it when I'm in Japan. It is soooooo good I could drink it everyday. I always keep a bottle in the fridge at the hotel.

Another one of the food I wanted to try in Japan was their McDonald's. I got a shrimp burger and these two chicken balls that was actually something new that they had.

Takoyaki from the famous Gindaco shop in Harajuku.

Ramen was something I ate the most when I was in Japan because they're so cheap. When I am not visiting a museum or going to any restaurant or cafe in particular that day, I would just go into a ramen shop for a quick and cheap meal for lunch. It saves money if you are traveling on budget and there are so many different ramen shops that you can try in Japan.

And of course I made sure to try freshly baked calbee fries when I was in Japan. They are the BEST fries in the world! I got a combo set with fries and chips with ice cream and a drink. I wanted to eat more of this when I was in Japan but sadly I was breaking out with pimples all over my face that I didn't want to eat too much fried stuff that will give me even more pimples than I already have. T_T

Aside from eating ramen, bento boxes from the convenience store was what I had for dinner most of the time when I don't stay out late. The bento boxes sold at the convenience stores are actually really good and cheap and there is quite a good selection to choose from.

Kinkyori Renai Movie at Toho Cinemas

I have been very busy with work lately that I don't have as much free time to blog as frequently as I would like to. There are still so many posts about my Japan trip that I want to blog about but some of them with video footage that I recorded will take me longer to edit and post. So I'm trying to get the easier ones done and get them posted earlier as they wouldn't be relevant anymore when I blog about them later. I went to watch Yamapi's movie Kinkyori Renai 近キョリ恋愛 at the Toho Cinemas in Shibuya on the very last day of my trip. I watched it on the last day because it was the only day I had nothing planned to do so it was a free day for me to do whatever I wanted to do. Last minute shopping and places I want to visit again. There are several other theatres that was playing the movie but I only know of the Toho Cinemas located in Shibuya right across from the Shibuya 109 mall. It was also my very first time watching a movie in Japan fully in Japanese with no subtitles and it was quite an interesting experience. I think I would do it again in the future if there happens to be a movie I want to watch. =)

I went to watch the movie at the earliest showtime at 10am in the morning. I didn't want to leave it until the very end of the day as I would have to catch the train back to my hotel and it will be so late and I also needed to pack my luggage to leave the next day. In Japan, you can choose the seat where you want to sit when you buy your movie tickets. I picked a middle row seat near the front because I'm quite blind and I did not bring my glasses with me. XD But what surprised me was it was actually quite expensive to watch a movie in Japan as an adult ticket cost almost $20 CAD. So much more expensive than watching a movie in Canada.

I sneakily snapped a picture inside the theatre right before the movie started, lol.

Movie merchandises that you can buy at the theatre. I bought the movie pamphlet book and this clear file holder thing.

After the movie, I was outside and noticed these cool display screens they have showing promotional pictures of the Kinkyori Renai movie. The screen would flash and change pictures so quickly I had to snap a picture really fast but I wasn't the only one doing it. There were also a few other Japanese fangirls standing next to me that were doing the exact same thing. XD

Movie poster I saw inside Harajuku station.

Also saw another movie poster inside the Lumine EST mall at Shinjuku.

Not going to say much about the movie since I don't want to spoil it fore anyone who hasn't seen it yet. The DVD will be released soon and that means it'll be available online soon as well. All I can say is that Yamapi looked really good in the movie and I'm very lucky to be able to be in Japan when his movie was showing as he doesn't film movies very often. It definitely made my first trip to Japan more memorable! (“⌒∇⌒”)

Makeup, skincare, beauty products in Japan

Just doing a short post of some makeup, hair, skincare and beauty products that I took pictures of while shopping in Japan. I have been to several drugstores and department stores a number of times during my trip. Each time I go into them, I'm always so fascinated by all the makeup and beauty products that I see. Ah, I miss shopping at the drugstores in Japan! Even if I am not buying anything in there, I can still spend hours staring at all their products. (。♥‿♥。) I'll share in another post later of what I bought in Japan.

Matsumoto Jun advertising for a shampoo called Je l'aime was one of the first things I saw in Japan on my first official day out when I decided to check out the drugstore nearby my hotel.

Namie Amuro advertising for Oleo D'or hair shampoo. I bought a small sample of this hair shampoo to try and absolutely fell in love with it. It made my hair feel so smooth and silky!!!

Sailormoon makeup!

Spotted hada labo face lotion but in Hello Kitty version, lol.

Also spotted these Snoopy products. Japan seems to be big on characters even in beauty products! XD

Spotted Yamapi's ad for hada labo moisturizer at a drugstore nearby my hotel.
